It gets better.
Believe it or not, 17 years of living means you see your fair share of tears, devastation and troublesome souls. Being the shoulder to cry on has taught me some important things and shed light on unanswered questions.
A lot of these tears come from those who have troubles in all shapes and sizes, yet are all linked in the same way. That it's not over yet.
Be it a death or a breakup, life will get better. One day you'll find individuals, places and dreams you never thought would bring such happiness. Or maybe they're all standing right in front of you. It just takes a second look to realise it.
What I'm trying to say is, there's hope. No matter how hopeless the situation looks, one day you're going to look back at the moment and know that it was a lesson. Those who can smile after they've battled a million soldiers- are the true heroes (or heroines).
I am surrounded by individuals who are running after losing the ability to even stand; individuals who have a family of their own after having battled cancer at 24 and individuals who are being loved unconditionally after years of neglect and pain.
And now they are laughing, with crinkles in their eyes and the world at their doorstep. Sometimes, I stare at them in awe and unbelievable admiration. They cherish each moment as though it's their last- for life is too short for sadness and sorrow.
If you believe, then life will get better. Whatever you believe in- God, Science or nothing at all, just remember it gets better with belief in yourself.
There's always light at the end of the tunnel and if you can't see it, wait. And if you're still feeling down, Woody and the gang are always waiting for you :-) |
